Short Answer, As Of October 2026

Of the four DAWs this guide covers, one ships an AI assistant you can talk to: FL Studio, with Gopher. Logic Pro ships several AI tools inside its production features, but no general assistant. Cubase and Ableton Live ship no assistant; their AI feature so far is stem separation. Below is what each one does, in the maker's own words, with the source. We checked the release notes and manuals on 19 October 2026. These products update often, so check the links for anything newer.

FL Studio: Yes, Gopher

What it is. Image-Line added Gopher in FL Studio 2025, describing it as a "multi-lingual studio assistant for answering FL Studio and music production-related questions". The manual calls it "a Large Language Model (LLM) trained exclusively on this Manual and our Knowledge Base". Image-Line's edition comparison lists it as included in all editions.

What it can do in your project. FL Studio 2026 added Gopher Control: "Gopher can now control some features in FL Studio and plugins." The listed controls cover channel and mixer volume, pan, mute, solo, names and colours, routing, adding and removing plugins in slots, tempo, transport, step sequencing, quantise and piano roll scripts. Image-Line calls this "an early, experimental set of features" and says Gopher "can only access your project after you explicitly allow it".

Data. Image-Line's knowledge base says the text of requests is logged to improve the feature, and that customer data from Gopher will not be used to train AI systems.

Other AI in FL Studio. FL Studio 21.2 added stem separation (Producer Edition and above) and AI-powered mastering through FL Cloud.

Logic Pro: AI Tools, No General Assistant

Logic Pro has no chat assistant that answers questions about your session. Its AI sits inside specific tools.

Mastering Assistant (Logic Pro 10.8). Apple's support article says it "might do any of the following to your mix": apply corrective EQ, adjust the loudness and adjust the overall stereo spread, with loudness set to around -14 LUFS integrated. Despite the name, it is a processor: it changes the master.

Session Players, Stem Splitter, ChromaGlow (Logic Pro 11). The release notes describe Bass Player and Keyboard Player joining Drummer to complete a set of Session Players, all built with AI. Stem Splitter separates a stereo file into stems; Stem Splitter and ChromaGlow require a Mac with Apple silicon. Logic Pro 11.2 added guitar and piano to Stem Splitter, and Writing Tools in the notepad using ChatGPT, which requires Apple Intelligence.

Synth Player and Chord ID (Logic Pro 12). Per the release notes, Chord ID identifies chords "from any part of your song" so that Session Players can follow them.

So the answer to "does Logic Pro have an AI assistant" depends on the word. It has AI players, an AI mastering processor and AI stem separation. It does not have an assistant you ask about your mix.

Cubase: Stem Separation, No Assistant

Steinberg's Cubase 15 press release (5 November 2025) lists "Stem Separation with AI power to extract stems for remixing, sampling, and editing" as a Cubase Pro feature. We found no built-in assistant in the official material.

Cubase users have asked for one. A feature request from November 2024 asks for "an AI assistant that really works for music/sound design/post production", and a June 2026 thread argues that AI "would be most valuable as a workflow assistant that helps users quickly find functions, presets, and sounds."

Ableton Live: Stem Separation, No Assistant

We read the Live 12 release notes from 12.0 to 12.4.6. Neither "AI" nor "assistant" appears.

Stem separation (Live 12.3, Suite). In Ableton's words: "Live Suite now features built-in stem separation that runs locally", into four stems: vocals, drums, bass and others. Live 12.4 added separation for a time selection.

Similarity Search (Live 12.0) finds "sounds similar to a reference file" in your library. Magenta Studio, a set of generative MIDI tools for Live, is a Google Magenta project rather than an Ableton one (magenta.tensorflow.org/studio).

Live's assistant gap is why a number of third-party tools now connect to Live through its scripting interface, including ours.

Other DAWs, Briefly

  • Fender Studio Pro (formerly Studio One) 8.1 added a natural-language Studio Assistant that "brings documentation, tutorials and support into one place", as a public beta for Studio Pro+ subscribers, according to the press release.
  • UA LUNA 1.9 describes itself as "your personal studio assistant", with voice control ("Hey LUNA") on Apple silicon Macs.
  • Pro Tools 2025.6 added speech-to-text transcription in Studio and Ultimate (Avid PDF). No assistant.
  • Bitwig Studio has announced that stem separation "will come to all editions of Bitwig Studio in the winter" (Bitwig). No assistant.
  • REAPER: no AI features in the changelog as of v7.82.

What The Built-In Tools Have In Common

Read side by side, the built-in AI falls into three groups. Documentation assistants answer questions about the DAW itself: Gopher's question mode, Fender's Studio Assistant. Controllers act on the project: Gopher Control, LUNA's voice commands. Processors and generators change or create audio: mastering assistants, stem separation, session players.

What none of them does yet is hear the session as it plays and talk about the music: why the low end is muddy, how loud the drop actually is, which key the clip is in. That is a different job from knowing the manual or moving a fader.

Where Nolvra Miles Fits

Nolvra Miles does that job. It is a separate app, not part of a DAW, and in the beta it connects to Ableton Live 11 and 12.

On Mac, Miles hears Live's audio output and analyses it on your computer: loudness, true peak, loudness range, a six-band balance, key and chord. On Windows, with Live closed, it hears the DAW that is playing. With the eye on, it takes one still of your DAW window when you send a question; on Mac it recognises the windows of ten DAWs, including Logic Pro, FL Studio, Cubase and Bitwig Studio. Through a small read-only bridge, it reads your Live set: tempo, tracks, devices, parameter values and the clip in view. Drop a bounce on it and it measures key, tempo, approximate loudness and true peak and the low end in mono.

It does not control your DAW, process your audio or generate music. More DAWs are planned for the full connection.

An Assistant That Hears The Session

Nolvra Miles hears what Ableton Live plays, looks at your DAW window when you ask and measures your bounces on your computer, then talks it through. It never writes to your session. In beta for All-Access members.

FAQ

Does Logic Pro Have An AI Assistant?

Not a chat assistant for your session. Logic Pro has AI-based tools: Session Players, Mastering Assistant, Stem Splitter and Chord ID. Mastering Assistant processes your master rather than answering questions.

Does FL Studio Have An AI Assistant?

Yes. Gopher, added in FL Studio 2025, answers questions about FL Studio and production, and since FL Studio 2026 can control some features in a project after you allow it. Image-Line describes the control features as experimental.

Does Cubase Have An AI Assistant?

Not as of Cubase 15. Its AI feature is stem separation in Cubase Pro. Users have requested an assistant on Steinberg's forum.

Does Ableton Live Have An AI Assistant?

Not built in, as of Live 12.4.6. Live Suite has local stem separation. Third-party assistants, including Nolvra Miles, connect to Live from outside.
