Dereverb Plugins In 2026, And What Free Gets You

Six reverb removal plugins measured from each maker's own page, the one free option that still downloads, and why free lists point at the wrong plugin.

One Free Plugin, And It Is Not The One You Will Find

Reverb removal plugins exist, they work, and almost all of them cost money. Searching for a free one is where this goes wrong. On the first page of results for free dereverb plugin, four of the ten hits are about DReverb by Stone Voices, which is a free algorithmic reverb: a plugin that adds the thing you are trying to take out. The free option that actually removes reverb is a five kilobyte script on the Audacity forum, last updated in October 2022, and it processes mono only. Below is what each option is, measured from its own page in September 2026, and what it asks for before it runs.

Four Routes, Measured From Source

The Free Shelf Closed In December 2023

For about a year the honest answer here was GOYO Voice Separator, a free public beta from Supertone that removed noise and reverb and cost nothing. It is gone. The site today is a single notice saying the beta closed on 2 December 2023 and that the paid release is Supertone Clear. Videos naming GOYO still sit in the first ten YouTube results for free dereverb plugin, and the address they send you to has had no download for almost three years.

Dereverb.ny, The One Free Plugin That Still Downloads

A forum user posted this on the Audacity board in August 2022 and last revised it that October. It is a Nyquist script of 5.58 kilobytes: a multi band gate that guesses a threshold per frequency band from the level of that band, so the combination becomes a reverb profile and you turn Sensitivity and Reverb Reduction instead of tuning bands by hand. What it leaves out is most of a normal setup. It runs in Audacity and nowhere else, and the author's warning at the top of the post is that it processes a mono signal and does not work on stereo.

The Paid Ones, And What Their Own Pages Say

Five products do this in real time inside a host, and each page is more specific than any list written about it. Acon Digital DeVerberate 3 splits a signal into direct and reverberated parts you recombine, and names macOS 10.13 with native builds for both architectures. Accentize DeRoom is a trained network that detects tails and suppresses them, and its own host list runs from Logic and Live through to Premiere, Final Cut and DaVinci Resolve. Zynaptiq UNVEIL handles any channel count including mono, needs a free iLok account even for the demo, and warns on its specification page that it uses a lot of processor. Waves Clarity Vx DeReverb is a one knob version with separate networks for speech and for sung vocals. Supertone Clear is what GOYO became.

The Other Free Routes Are Not Plugins

The most watched free answer on YouTube is a standalone application. Ultimate Vocal Remover is free and open source for Windows, macOS and Linux, and you run it beside the session and hand it files. The other free route is the browser: the first ten results for remove reverb from vocals are ten upload and download services and not one of them is a plugin. Both cost the same thing, which is that the file leaves the session, and in the browser case it leaves your machine.

Two rows say Free and neither is a plugin you can put on a vocal track in your own host. That is the actual state of this category, and no page ranking for it today says so.

Why The Results For This Are Worse Than Usual

Four roundups hold the plugin queries between them, and between them they name twenty three entries. Not one of the twenty three is a free plugin. None of the four pages mentions GOYO, Supertone, Audacity or Ultimate Vocal Remover, and every product link on all four goes to a store rather than to a maker's download. Two of them list a transient shaper as a reverb removal plugin, which is the same mistake as putting a guitar overdrive on a list of 808s: it shortens tails, so it looks close enough from far away.

The platform half is the familiar gap. Not one of the four says Apple Silicon anywhere, while four of the five paid makers say it plainly on their own pages. And the word free breaks the search itself. Ask for a free dereverb plugin and you are shown a free reverb, because the two phrases are one letter apart and nothing in the page titles separates them.

Where RAW Fits

RAW is ours and it is not free, which is why it sits at the bottom of that table. It is also not a real time insert, and that is a genuine difference from the five paid plugins above. You capture the audio, select a range on the waveform, and drag the dry version into the project.

That shape is the point. The reverb map shows measured reverb across the whole capture, so you treat the phrases that need it and leave the rest untouched, and REDUCTION sets how much of the space goes rather than removing all of it. HARSH, AIR and MUD handle what the room was covering up, which is a real problem: pulling a room out uncovers sibilance that was masked. The model runs on your machine, so nothing is uploaded, and exports and drag-outs are 32-bit float. If the source came out of a separator first, expect artefacts that are not room. The RAW page carries the full specification.

What To Check Before You Install One

  • Whether it is a plugin at all, because the two most recommended free answers in this category are a standalone application and a web page.
  • Whether free means the plugin or the trial, since one of these makes noise every sixty seconds until you buy it and another needs an account service even to run the demo.
  • Whether it names your machine, because four ranking pages discuss these plugins without the words Apple Silicon appearing once.
  • Whether it runs in your host, as the only genuinely free plugin here works in Audacity alone and refuses stereo.
  • Whether the file has to leave the session, which is a browser tool's real price and not a feature you can turn off.
  • Whether it removes or reduces, since a gate shortens tails and a separator lifts the room out, and they fail in different ways.

Pull The Room Out On Your Own Machine

RAW measures the room, renders offline and hands the take back dry. The model runs locally, nothing is uploaded, and the drag-out is a 32-bit float WAV.

FAQ

Is there a free dereverb plugin?

One, with two conditions. Dereverb.ny is a free Nyquist script from the Audacity forum, last updated in October 2022, and it runs only inside Audacity and only on mono signal. Everything else that removes reverb in a normal host is paid, though most offer a trial. Free searches also return DReverb by Stone Voices, which is a reverb rather than a reverb remover.

What happened to GOYO Voice Separator?

Its free public beta closed on 2 December 2023 and the address now shows only a notice saying so. The paid release that replaced it is Supertone Clear, which the maker describes as the same tool with better processor performance, new metering and an offline workflow. Any page or video still recommending GOYO as a free download is pointing at a page with no download on it.

Does a dereverb plugin work in FL Studio, Logic or Ableton?

The paid ones do, with the usual format catch. Logic loads Audio Units only, and DeVerberate 3, DeRoom, Clarity Vx DeReverb, UNVEIL, Supertone Clear and RAW all ship one. FL Studio and Ableton load VST3, and every plugin here except the Audacity script ships one. That script is the exception in both directions: no AU, no VST, Audacity only.

Is an online reverb remover as good as a plugin?

It is a different job rather than a worse one. The first ten results for remove reverb from vocals are all upload services, and they are quick for a one off file. What you give up is the amount, since you take whatever the service decided rather than turning a control, and the range, since it treats a whole file. You also send an unreleased take to somebody else's machine.

Why do reverb removal lists never include free plugins?

Because there are almost none to include, and because of how the pages are paid for. The four roundups ranking for these searches name twenty three products between them and every single link goes to a store. A free plugin on a forum has no store link behind it, so it does not earn a place on a list built that way, even when it is the only free answer that exists.
